A very quick, and simple, technical question relating to the new 5.

First Edition - on the 'build your own' section you are not able to specify full length black roof rails - even though they are a dealer fit.

However, they are available as an Accessory Option on the mainstrean models (HSE Luxury etc) for £262.50

We have ordered a First Edition, but roof bars are an absolute essential (to mount a box).

Can anyone on the inside help answer if the First Edition will have the mounting points for the bars (which I order separately), or whether I am going to have to switch my order to a HSE Luxury? I can't imagine that the roof will be different across the range (i.e mounting points for the bars), but it's a lot of money to be spending to leave to chance.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ben

I've also ordered a First Edition, been told Feb incidentally, and have the same conundrum.

I'm assuming dealer will be able to fit but they can't confirm!

Roof Rails will fit fine, straight forward aftermarket swap. Dealer will be able to order all required parts and have it all fitted within a morning/afternoon.

The Disco 5 Launch Edition is causing a friend of mind a similar conundrum in that it's got great spec, but the limited colour selection isn't entirely floating his boat! He's been fortunate enough to be allowed to spec an HSE Luxury as well with his dealer so he can cover both bases - I know JLR are probably regretting letting some of the customers see the launch cars so early & for the chaos over the online specification.

I'm hoping the new Disco 5 will be our "ride" to LM17 which will be a proper test with a group of blokes scrutinising it as a brand new model. The last my friend told me was that the dealers were hoping for March delivery for the first customer cars.

BJW - what colour have you chosen?

update 30.01.17 - my friend has been told 10.03 for delivery of his Silicon Silver coloured First Edition model.
