Looking for some help; I previously owned a Disco 3 from around 3 years old, for 3 years, and am considering a Disco 4.

Our Disco 3 was a lovely car, and held its value well but the components seemed to be of a lower quality than I would have expected - I had to have all brake pipes replaced due to them rusting, replaced the alternator, and the fairly typical compressor replacement. The boot cable and EPB also needed attention. I currently run an old E class estate. It is worth maybe 10% of what the Disco was and is on 180k miles but has cost me just a battery and 2 tyres in 2 years.

I need a 4WD for work (muddy fields), plus we have 3 children, who do fit well in the Disco. Budget would be for an 09-10 model HSE, probably around 130k miles. Have Landrover got their act together with the Disco 4? My heart says to go for one, but after our experience of the Disco 3 my head is saying 'watch out'....

Grateful for any personal experiences of owning high mileage Disco 4's; I can see some about on up to 200k miles, so they evidently can do the miles? Any big services to make sure have been done other than cambelt?

Thanks....
