DPF cleaning?

On the drive home tonight my D4 developed a very throaty exhaust note like it was blowing. Got out at home and there was a lot of ticking, more than usual and a distinct burning smell.

Some furious googling later seems to suggest it was a regular DPF cleaning cycle it does. Don't remember my previous D4 doing this.

Anyone else experienced it?

My Evoque has done this, smells like rubber burning when I noticed it. As per you I launched into Google and realised it was the DPF cleansing itself.

Yep, all back to normal on this mornings drive in!

yep dpf purge. my wifes ecosport seems to do it everytime your drive the fecking thing. expect to see the mpg nose dive everytime it does it too
