Thanks. I guess it's like the BMW / Mercedes scattergun approach, cover every single niche, although I'm still not seeing a massive gap.

sadly the road will be awash with the 44k poverty spec cars, which without the nice bits wont do this car justice

That's the case with all cars these days and is a trend which leasing only encourages given how expensive options are in that context.

The option list is stupid

They seem to be charging for anything over and above the wheels, seats, engine and steering wheel (e.g. options include 4-zone climate, luggage side net, electric steering column adjust, ambient light configuration, rear seat lever remote release etc)

I played with the configurator. Took only a few seconds to spec it up from £44,000 to £65,000!

Out of interest an F-Pace with a bigger engine came out at around £52,000 for roughly the same spec/

And an equivalent new BMW 5 Touring 2.0SE was £41,000

I suppose someone has to pay for all those celebrity endorsements

For £80k I'd be buying the real thing - a FFRR

I really like the styling and have beee looking for a replacement for my wife's Grand Jeep. This may well do the job!

Having looked at the price list I agree that it is expensive but it is largely due to the cost of getting a decent engine IMHO. The standard spec on the S is actually really high with loads of things that others will charge for, however, they have developed the art of offering a load of supposedly tempting extras...

Personally to the S I would only add metallic (agree this should be standard), opening sunroof and heated rear seats. The rest of the bling would pass me by.

It doesn't appear to be available in green.

That's a shame as I rather like the idea of a low spec Velar in dark green.

£65 for a side net in the boot. Really? Surely something as simple as a net could be standard ffs!

I thought the option of a £125 fire extinguisher that the AA sells for £12 was a hoot!
