I'm really keen on buying a (1976 or pre) series 2 / 2a, good condition / restored Land Rover so I'm just wondering if these prices are normal ?

I had no idea they would be this much -I appreciate good restoration is a long and expensive job - so maybe they should be this much? I also understand these vehicles are going up and up in value.

Both nice but ridiculous money. I love classic Landies but really...£16k odd on that instead of an everyday use Defender?

On the second one, the attention to detail is not great. Fridge white wheels, rear door abomination and Defender mirrors ruin it for me unfortunately...

You have answered your own question anyway.

The first one seems to be very nice and
looks well worth the money.

I've just put my series 2a up for sale if that's of any interest to you.

Thanks Tommy - great work you've done - can't believe it was in that state at the beginning! awesome. I'm not in any rush so I'm taking my time - thanks anyway.

My guess is you are buying this as an investment and not much else.

I think the first issue is you are looking in the wrong place. The back of the Land Rover mags is a great place to start. The cars are usually cheaper for a start. Ebay is also good hunting ground.

I personally would also avoid a fully restored vehicle. People think they are worth a fortune as they are expecting to get every penny they spent on it back and that is far from the reality of selling any car.

Whilst you may think that all shiny is the way to go, don't discount an original vehicle with original paint. Even if it requires a new box, that is only a grand all in. Solid chassis is essential.

Expect to pay anything from £4-7k and be prepared to travel.
