My first freelander 2 test drive
Discussion
Having just done a 5 hour round trip to a dealer to see a 2009 fl2 hse
Nice car well specced 67k two owners
Now the bad points
full service record but second owner has just used local mot station for servicing
The car has a slight pull when driving and vibration from the front right (all probably sort able)
The big one now, at all times there was diff noise inside the cabin coming from the rear. When i pointed this out it was "explained to me" that the rear tyres had different tread depths and a new set of tyres would stop the noise. Has anyone ever heard such a thing??
all modes of 4x4 selected and worked, no noises on full lock and nothing on breaking
Thoughts ladies and gentlemen please

As far as I can tell (from what others have said on freel2.com), this noise could be (a) needs a new diff (b) wheel bearing (c) needs new tyres. I didn't want to buy the car but my wife insisted (despite the rude salesman)
In the case of ours it was a new diff at £750 - v similar mileage to the one you looked at so that is what I would conclude. Though it just might be tyres. Or wheel bearing 😊

Bought a new Freelander2 in 2014 after about a year the car got noisy. Took it back to dealer because I was sure it was diff or wheel bearing . The tyres were blocking , the tread was flexing causing a really loud rumble . New tyres completely solved the problem . Not saying this is the problem OP but its possible .
