Engine rebuild and respray costs

I am trying to put a costing together for a little project I have in mind, modifying a V8 Defender 110. Pricing up a desired parts list is easy enough, but an engine/gearbox overhaul and a respray are a little harder to cost. Seeing as I am very good at taking things apart, but less so at putting them back together, these are jobs I should probably delegate to the professionals.

Can anyone suggest what suitable rough ballpark figures should be allowed assuming no major issues with the mechanicals or bodywork defects?

Rebuild of LR gearbox is £600-£1k depending what the box is and how much needs to be rebuilt. Speak to Ashcroft transmissions of synchro gearboxes. Ashcroft have been making Land Rover gearboxes better for years.

A respray is much harder. £2k to how much do you want to spend??


Also, never assume that there are no issues with a Land Rover.
