Hi there,

Has anyone retrofitted the fuel burning heater to an SDV8 Range Rover?

I quite fancy one if it is simple enough to do.

Phil.

I’m not sure a FBH can be retrofitted. On some L405’s the FBH unit is installed but not activated as a FBH. In this case it is possible to activate the FBH.

Do a search on the FFRR forum for more info:

From memory, if you find some disconnected/unused wires/connector in the RHS of the boot behind the cover there is a good chance you can fit the remote controller and then configure it to a fob.

The FFRR guys will be able to advise and there is definitely a thread on there with lots of detail and examples.

Ooohhhh.

Exciting.

Would be genuinely brilliantly if I could do it that easily.

When I fitted my plug for my C-Tek charger I found a spare wire & wondered what it was for.

That was going to be the next investigation.

Be brilliant if it could kill 2 birds with one stone!

Nice writeup, though that's for installing the remote starter, etc for an existing FBH.

To install the FBH itself, I've never done one on the L405 but as it was a factory-fit option, it should just simply be a case of swapping out the relevant parts. This will essentially be:

  • The heater itself.
  • Coolant pipes
  • Diesel supply
  • Wiring.
Good luck.
