Bonnet or Back Door...

I took it off the bonnet as it was restricting visibility a litte (when trying to see how close your front bumper is to things 
)..
Back door is already full of holse from a previous mounting bracket so I'll probably use the same set again.. the type you describe are pretty nifty though arent they..

Dont fit it to the bonnet, if you are going to then brace up the inside, a bit heavy wheel bouncing on the bonnet will bent the bonnet...trust me, seen it happen.
Buy a swing-away spare wheel carrier from mantec or BLRS.
They're easy to fit and don't put strain on the rear door hinges.

You need to be a weightlifter to check your oil and water if the spare is on the bonnet.
Mine was on the back, which is fine if you've got a Safari door, but the old drop down doors ruled out this solution.
On the old S2a, which had a drop down door, we kept the spare inside, bolted to the back of the seat bulkhead, which kept it clean and dry and relatively immune from theft, but took up precious space.
I've never had a puncture with a LR, but it would probably take fifty cans of tyre weld to inflate such a big tyre, so I would be reluctant to leave the spare at home.
Some army LRs have the spare bolted to the side of the hardtop...

Anyway, I wanna get some of those new style BFG all terrains for my TD5 when i can afford them. The mud terrains really give the right impression. Wanna full set of NAS lights fitted when cash permitsas well.
