A little final detail and she is now ready to run to gaydon this weekend along with my 90. I know they should get muddy but with all the sweat and tears into this thing it just seems best to keep her gleaming!

A bloody powerful orbital polisher with loads of different pads and various polishes etc etc. Amazing too watch these guys work and if anyone wants a good job doing I will have no problem in recomending them! You should try it on the 50th..........she will really look the business!

Lovely job Bish. Hope to get mine close to this standard over the summer. Managed to track down some LSE 5 spoke wheels on the bay last week and will get them refurbished and colour coded in the next month. Looking at yours has now got me thinking of going the de-badged route though…… scratchchin

50th needs a re-paint.Its not up to my standard. Its at that age now where there are a couple of bits of bubbling on the surface,Will get it done within the next year.

Krusty..........i took the badges of just before the guys came to polish it and it looks SO much better. Much less cluttered and just a huge expanse of gleaming black paintwork.

Bish, Did they come off easy enough? and did they damage the paintwork during removal. Your pictures have pretty much convinced me to go this route.

I done mine on my previous SC Classic.I managed to prise them off ok.Then use a bit of white spirit to wipe the glue off.Hot water can also help,if you have the older flat style decals instaed of the raised ones.Depending on the age of the paint, you may get "ghosting"from the previous decals.

Literally took 5 minutes. However they had only been on for 4 months as it was de-badged before I tried it with them on and realised it was an error!!!! Take it slowly and get some polish out and it will look ace.

After reading this it encouraged me to get mine up to scratch and yesterday Luke (LG Autoworx) finished it all off with some great detailing work. I went for the de-badged look as Bish did and the expanse of black looks stunning.

Interesting, i've got a south african 50th. Not the same colour, but mine's in desperate need of a respray too. Bits flaking off and such. Do you know any decent places to have it done? The whole thing leaks like a sieve too, so I was thinking of having it rebuilt

Is there some kind of restoration guide for RR Classics I could get? Mine (1995) is in pretty good nick but has the usual rusty tailgate and a few other bits and bobs that need sorting.

I'd appreciate any pointers as to good sources of spares and restoration tips.

Just wish it bettered 15mpg frown

Cheers,

Chris

I bought a new tailgate online (http://rangerovertailgates.com/) It's aluminium so won't ever give you any grief again.
