just wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram for the harman kardon upgraded hifi in the p38?

have a loose wire somwhere, occasionally if I go over a bump whilst on a corner the radio cuts to one speaker, then cuts back again later to all speakers, rather annoying really and want to try and find where the loose connection is.

ive had the head unit out, unplugged then plugged back in all the wires and it still does it.

also a bit of an odd one, when the speakers cut out the sat nav voice still comes through all speakers . . . . .

if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

As the speakers are individually wired and they all work with the sat nav then I would surmise the fault is inside the radio being a dry joint or the like.
Does the fault come or go more when the radio is hot or on a cold day?

Gary,

Have you got the P38 Rave manuals? (Usually lots for sale on Fleabay - or available elsewhere on the net if you know where to look wink)

There may be a wiring diagram for the HK system in there.

I have the e-version of the manuals at home - can check for you - but possibly not til after the weekend.

ETA: This is possibly one for PH'er David Beer

chances are it will be the little tweeters at the top of the door. The contacts on the back touch the metal of the door and short the whole door. Hope that helps

Gary,

I've had a look in the RAVE manual, and the circuit diagrams for the radio and sound systems are there. (There are 20 pages of circuit diagrams for it!)

Let me know if you need them, and I can print them off and post them to you if it helps.

cheers meeja

i got them and went through everything yesterday, thought it must be the head unit as the high and mid works and the bass doesnt, when the thing actually works.

anyways, swapped it out for a working one from another range rover and nope, exactly the same.

put mine in my chums rangie, and mine works fine.

im gonna have to pass this to the garage i think, im out my depth i think.

on the plus side though, I found i have a tracker fitted smile

the previous owner either didnt realise or forgot to mention it smile

I wonder if a decent ICE installer or Auto Electrician would be better than a garage?

Nice! Get it re-activated for yourself, and watch your insurance premium come down a bit!

I drove mine into work today.... Makes you realise what a nice place a Vogue is to be stuck in traffic in.

Especially with an HK stereo smile
