I've got a chance to buy a reasonably OK series 2 (1964) with a buggered 2.25 engine.

Anyone know how big a deal it is to put a 3.5 Rover V8 into it?

It will go,but will need to cut the bulkhead inside the cab.

Thanks. Kinda come to that conclusion. The bulkhead needs some work anyway.

I wonder if a 200tdi might be an easier and more practical route...

Bolts straight in... Need to remove battery tray. rework air cleaner. Up to you if you want DI (No Turbo) TD (No Intercooler) or the the full fat TDI (Need to find space at the front for the Intercooler.

Check the Land Rover forums plenty of write ups and advice.. Some 300TDIs fitted as well but need engine mounts fabricating.

I got a series 3 with a V8 in but the bulkhead is still intact. Bloody close to it though, and can be a pig to work on due to lack of space.
