Advice on LR3/Discovery

I have seen LR3's (Discovery by another name here in the US - are they called LR3's in the UK now too?) fall to silly low prices over here lately and have spotted a 2005 with 42k miles, 7 seats and the V8 engine for a tempting price. Obviously the car is out of warranty now. What are these cars like to own? Could it be a money pit? Any advice on what to look out for, or direction to any web resources that will tell me the same?
