Been playing with screens and that spreadsheet and have a much better idea now.

A question.

I've just been watching a match live with both the Betfair and Ladbrokes sites up and at one point the Lay was lower than the Back, only for 30 secs or less. If I had clicked on it would it have stayed at the same odds whilst I made the bet?

Cheers.

You don't lock in the price when you click on it. The price has to be current when you actually place the bet or lay.

This in itself is a gamble........

Last day tomorrow before Cheltenham starts.

So far i've got the following lined up, bearing in mind that I can only bet on my mobile while i'm at work so i'm having to tread quite carefully here.

William Hill £5 for £5 free bet
Lads - Free fiver if you deposit before the 12th.
Apollo bet - bet £60 on race one get £30 for last race - I think i'm gonna have to do my bets the night before for the qualifier for this one - anyone see a problem with doing this?
Paddy - Refund if on the Arkle Chase - gonna place this Monday night as well.
Betfred / Tote and Unibet all offering - refund if Darian wins opening race - again i'll have to place this on the Monday evening.

And so far thats all i've got.

For those who are a little confused by the refund if bit - freebets for all have got a page set up to do the calculations for you!

hxxp://www.freebets4all.com/refund-if-horse-wins-calculator.aspx

They've also got a very handy guide to the offers available at the moment for each and every race through the week

hxxp://www.latest.freebets4all.com/2012/03/cheltenham-free-bet-guide.html

eta: Can't see the Will Hill one anymore.

How about the Betfair mobile offer:

hxxp://promotions.betfair.com/cheltenham2012

Still trying to get my head around it but looks like it could trump all other existing offers combined.

ETA: I think the odds available on the three races kind of works against you a bit here and it's going to take a big bankroll on a busy day. About £90 in it at the moment

Just so you know, the betfair site is horrible to trade through in running. Prices are out of date by up to 30 seconds and it can take 10 seconds to get matched. All in all, it's a terrible idea trying to do something in running on their site. You really need to use an API if you intend to do so because the site's highly frustrating to use.

Cheers

I was only looking as I'm a beginner.

Started yesterday with Ladbrokes and I'm £39 in profit plus a tenner from Quidco.

Tomorrow's qualifier and free bet already in place with Paddy should get me £38.

Thanks for the advice guys and the new iMac with a big screen is a real help here.

Morning everyone smile Welcome Croyde too.

Typical, hit with man-flu yesterday. Trying to recover by tonight!

Sarge, I'm trying to get my head round the BF Mobile thing too. Will follow the mse thread for that. At first glance it looks like match 2 races for min loss (or combine with Apollo offer)then back Hurricane Fly around evens, laying at Daq to equalise the profit.

Some other offers from my list: Vic £20 on tomorrow's Supreme Novices for £20 freebet on Wed's 1st race, plus 20 casino spins.

A good arb and hope from Boyles: Day 1 refund if horse comes second, first 4 races. Similar for BlueSq if your horse loses by a length or less.

I don't think there's any profit in the Darlan refund offers just yet. If there is, Betfred and Unibet are doing this offer.

Potential Sharbing opportunity. In the Racing Post, all the bookie odds are published alongside each entry each race each day. Corals have promised for those odds to be available in-shop between at least 9 and 9.30am each day.

Morning to you Richard, cheers.

Today's question, what's an ARB?

Signed up today to William Hill and Coral with no offers in site but was hoping for something once registered. Is it worth keeping the accounts open for offers or should I close the accounts in the hope for something in the future?

OK 2 questions biggrin

Both Hills and Corals have got sign up offers available - I think Corals is £50 and William Hill is £25.

If you can't find them on the website do a google for the bookies name and free bet - it'll usually link you to the offer page.

If you have signed up with out getting a free offer - speak to customer services for both bookies and explain what has happened that you couldn't see an offer but would still like to take advantage of them (once you've found what they are) They'll probably still honour them - and some of them are bonus on deposit rather than immediate sign up - The offers will exist you just have to find them!!

Oh and an ARB is where you make money regardless of outcome - so your lay odds will be shorter than your back odds - don't hang around for very often but are nice when you find one!

Yep, arb = arbitrage bet. Backing at a higher price than laying to ensure a profit. Sharb is a shop arb.

Liverpool lay odds on Sat dropped to 1.99. I chucked £400 at WHills shop at 2.1, then thought I'd try Corals. 2.2!! Only had £125 left on me though by then wink

So a profit, and over 300 BF points which I needed to complete the rewards chest promo.

Croyde, if you are just starting out I would advise NOT getting caught up in the Cheltenham frenzy. You need to play safe with football at first, and you'll make more out of Subs than you would out of Chelts anyway (with a limited float)

But DO take advantage of the better sign up odds around just now.

Thanks Dan

Would you help me with the wording in these T&Cs as the way I read it is that you have to bet your deposit and bonus 3 times over before you can withdraw.

"To bet with your bonus, play through the amount of your qualifying deposit once on the sports and markets of your choice. You will need to rollover your deposit and bonus 3 times prior to making a withdrawal."

This is Bet365 offering to match your deposit up to £200.

Leave 365 for a bit. You'll need £1200 in Betfair to do it adequately. And you'll want to learn the horses to potentially make a LOT from this offer smile

To your question though - yes. You need to be prepared to bet 3 x deposit+bonus (+£1200) before you can withdraw anything (or else you lose the bonus)

Thanks Richard.

Looking at your bet above, so you now use larger amounts when the lay odds are a smidge lower than the back in order to guarantee a £20/£30 win.

^ yes, that was for a Betfair offer. But of course you can sharb independently of any offers.

Another Chelts one. Each day, Coral Mobile bet £5 on 1st race get £5snr on last race. Plus refund if second to Favourite.

Rich - due to my restrictions at work I can only place bets the night before or on my mobile.

Can you forsee any issues with doing the bets the night before?

I'm home in time for the last races so should be fine for any of these place on first for free bet on last type offers.

Some of them are bet to be placed on day of race, so check t&c's as usual.

As far as liquidity is concerned, no problem smile

Day of Race (as opposed to Antepost) markets now forming for tomorrow's Chelts races.

That BF Mobile offer. A 30% bonus on net winnings over the 1.30, 3.20 and 5.15. A mobile bet of at least £25 risk (so back stake or lay liability) to be placed on each race to qualify. Bonus paid on net winnings of all bets on those races though however placed.

What with a limited float this is what I'm thinking of doing at the mo.

1.30 I'll do the Vic £20 and Apollo £60 quali, mid priced, lay as usual - which should win @ BF. Underlay for a profit at bookies.

3.20 I'll do a big back either H/Fly to win OR Binocular TBP, both just under evens, lay at Smarkets. I'd overlay this to give a profit on the lay side as this is where the bulk of my 30% BF uplift will come IF my back wins.

5.15 I'll do an evens ish £25 TBP back & underlay on this one.

ETA Decided to forego the Apollo offer for the Tuesday. For the sake of net £20, it could really b*gger up the BF cashback.
If I had the float I'd still do it, but at another exchange.

Lads, corals, Corbetts SNRs I've got to do on day1 also, I'll do them on the 14.05 so as not to interfere with this offer.

Blimey a big float's required for all of this.

I'm having to duck out of a couple of these already.

Not necessarily.

I mentioned before about combining BF lay liabilities. Laying 4 horses so far in the 1330 with another 3 to do tomorrow hehe

That takes care of most of today's qualis and previously earned freebets, and goes some way to the 30% BF bonus.

ETA Uprated SuBs (I know, not for us Dan) Lads £150, Corbettsports £65 smile
