testosterone said: Forgot to add - you get paid before you have to pay so you never have anyone owing you money which is the biggest hassle for most business these days. Everything is COD (card or cash) - no cheques and no accounts and no bad debts. Dont forget also as you are not cooking anything so no stock to worry about either ! How? Surely the custome pays you on receipt of the food? If they don't you would still have to settle the account at the restuarant? Or have I missed something?

70% of your customers are going to pay by card which will be authorised at the time of the order. If its not authorised you dont process the order. Ok someone paying cash might give you a fake note or not want to pay but in my experience this was very rare. If it is a large order you collect payment first. This is not uncommon. olly22n said: This really was never an issue in my twenty years experience.

There is a similar operation over here in london called roomservice.com. but it is only a one off.
What you are doing is collecting food from a restaurant and delivering it to the customer. Room service charge a delivery fee and increase the bill. At the same time they get a discount from the restaurant so at the end of the day they are getting a delivery charge plus 20% of the food bill without the hassle of having to cook the food and pay the massive overheads.
You would not have to have an A3 premises and most of your staff would be self employed people using their own cars paid on a per job basis.
Room service use well known london restaurants ie planet hollywood, bombay palace, blue elephant as well as some small family run restaurants. Whilst a lot of restaurants dont mind doing take away they dont want to do delivery.Delivery is the way to go. The pizza boys have educated us into why we should all get take away food delivered and it has become the norm.
I think this concept could work in any town. It would not cost a lot to start up and if things didnt work out you could get out without losing your shirt. The bottom line is that you are in control of the business.
Remember you heard it here first ! LOL Big marketing costs needed to get this going e.g why would someone buy from you? Being done by nifty nosh as well Don't most takeaways also deliver anyway?

No they dont. Also a lot of restaurants in london are stopping it as the overheads are too high.
Marketing is no different than any other new business start up.

Manks said: Taco Bell is nice, but we have far fewer Hispanics over here and I do wonder whether it would therefore be less successful than in America. There are two taco bells in the uk, iv no idea what the footfalls like, probably low, Noones got a clue in this country what it is. Plus they ' watered down' the us menu which is infuriating tbh.

I would be cautious with taco bell. They were mentioned on here ages ago and at that time didnt have any UK outlets. Now they only have 3. Highly likely they could pull out if not successful!

bring a new franchise to the UK - a lot of the big established UK ones are very expensive and the decent territories are long gone.
The guys who took a gamble on subway/dominoes when it was new to the UK are the winners now
