Hello guys

I've had some personal issues that have kept me from finalising my year end accounts. They were due at the end of March and I asked my accountant to extend the YE date by a month. He duly did this which gave me an extra month to prepare the account.

Problem is that I haven't finished them and it's unlikely they will get finished by end April. Can the YE date be extended again?

Answer is here:

http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/about/gbhtml/ca_g...

But the short answer is no, once extended you cannot extend again for 5 years, although there are a few exceptions to this, such as being in a group and aligning with other group companies.

So unless they are filed a late filing penalty is coming your way, which cannot be avoided normally.

Take the penalty on the chin as the additional accountancy costs you incur by trying to change things will end up being greater than the penalty. However. make sure you don't miss any further deadlines for these accounts as the penalties go up quite steeply quite quickly.

Also the penalty will be double if you are late again next year.
