Just had my first wage go into my business account. To finally make that money as my own man, running my own company is such a great feeling, and an enormous weight off. I didn't appreciate just how stressed I have been feeling about it all, my shoulders have literally dropped inches It makes me feel justified in taking the decision to go it alone. I know it's only the start, but one step at a time. Now, where's the nearest Aston Martin garage?

congratulations!
When I first started my printing business, I was the sole employee so it was easy to work out how much money I was making/losing per day. As you say a great feeling, enjoy it.

Congratulations!!! Hopefully I will be able to join you in a couple of months. I have started my notice period and will be out on my backside 3-weeks from today!!! I know things will be slow to begin with and I will incur some losses in the set-up phase as I get my gear and spend time doing admin bits etc but I can't wait.

I started on my own 9 years ago. Still get a buzz from winning business or being proud of the companies work. Enjoy it, it will be stressful at times, but always worth it if it's successful (I'm sure it will be )

Congrats chap. I took the plunge into my own business 12 years ago. Bloody hard work but I was determined to do it before my 30th birthday. Opened up 2 days before the big 3-0. Have been taking a break for past 18 months but just about to jump back into it. Exchange next week on the next venture.
Enjoy the good times and just ride out the bad. I admire anyone who has the balls to do it.

Wage into a business account? Do you mean payment of an invoice? Yes, it is remarkable that you can type a number on a bit of paper and somebody sees it and sends you money. My first was £324 from Fisons; I took a colour photocopy of it

Agree it's a great feeling, another great one is when you have started to employ staff and you take a holiday.
Sitting on a beach knowing you are still earning money is a happy day.

I've taken a screendump and printed it out I half expected an email back stating "You want HOW MUCH?!" Thanks guys, today is a good day.

Well done ol' chap. I've just celebrated 12 years of being raped by HMRC Enjoy and i do mean enjoy every penny you make, it really makes you appreciate it when you have a down day. Tip of the day. Print out a picture of something you really want (a car, a house, a boat) pin it up next to your desk and aim for that.

Sitting on a beach knowing you are still earning money is a happy day. I made £1,000 while I was asleep one night - having arranged cameramen to film 24-hour coverage of a civil engineering work. Now of course they'd get students with high-street camcorders to do it for £100

UPDATE Well I just got an email from my accountant with my end of year accounts attached. So that is my first year of trading now complete (OK, end of the week, but as near as...). I have been lucky enough to go from one 6 month contract to a second which is on month 6, with an extension until end of August and talk of more stretching into 2014. To say I am chuffed is an understatement. To all those who are thinking about doing it, I say go for it, it's the best decision I ever made! No Aston yet, imminent house move negates anything automotive at the moment, but my time will come
