As per title, we are about to dump our current provider as they have just upped their prices to a stupid amout for the amount we process so wondered if any PH'ers could quote/help me, before I head out to the wide world of the t'inerweb.

Thanks

Hannah

Very little, some months none but then some months may be 3! Transaction size is very varied, it could be £75-£7000 depending on the job done.

Many moons ago we used British Independent Retailers Association (when it was BSSA) who negotiate reduced prices on behalf of their members. Might be worth the membership fee: http://www.bira.co.uk/banking-financial-service/ca...

Unfortunately processing very few transactions means you're likely to pay quite a high fee.

We're happy to pay a higher 'per transaction' fee as I know we not doing the volumes but we're now paying £30 per month just to have the virtual terminal plus the % if we use it.

How about Paypal or Google Checkout?

Send an electronic invoice with a link for payment - that could work.

What are your %ages like?

Can you just use PayPal as and when? I think for low volume you're going to pay a monthly fee anyway. £360 a year isn't too bad.

Alternatively, you ask them to bank transfer the money and job jobbed. I think you'll struggle with transactions over £10k anyway.

Not too sure on %'s as we're not at home at the moment. Think its around 2%.

We deal with mainly older people who are struggling with using credit/debit cards over cash/cheques so asking for a bank transfer is way beyond their capabilities.

I resell Commidea (just been taken over by Verifone) as a small part of my business. They only do the aquiring part (for a fixed monthly price), so you need/keep your existing merchant account (and percentages). They should be able to deal directly with you, but they do like long contracts.

What sort of transactions are you doing - online, customer present/point of sale, customer not present (e.g. telephone), mobile/on site payments?

Virtual terminal over the phone I would guess.

Isn't there something in PayPal Pro that's a virtual terminal?

If not, try Pay Offshore (we use them - speak with Tracey), but I doubt you'll find someone who won't charge you a monthly fee
