The £100 challenge – start a business
Discussion
Well I am going to be up to that when I sell this stock, so the start amount doesn't matter that much. Just fun playing along.
Made a sale today, £80 for a £26 mower that I cleaned the carb, air filter, petrol tank and wiped with a oily rag. Emailing a few people with details of the other stock I have now.

Well my 'free' fiesta i ended up breaking into £225, rather than using my £100 to MOT it.
With the £225 i bought a Ford Cougar with MOT and TAX but with an intermittent immobiliser fault for £220.
I've the option to spend the £100 to bypass the immobiliser, OR break it and go again with another cheapie.
I reckon it will weigh into £200, the alloy off the five wheels will weigh in to £60, the two headlights will make £20 each on ebay, the CD player £30 and the battery is worth £5 to weigh in. With a bit of luck i should get £10 each for the tyres second hand on gumtree. So for half a days effort i should get £350 back.
Hope to have that done by next saturday.

A question keeps coming up about starting up a website, especially with so many of us using Wordpress/ register1 - I wonder if it would be worth setting up a conference call once a month to assist those needing help to start up. Ie set up an idea for the £100 or £500challenge? Everyone can dial with the details given after paying say a £20fee for a one hour session on getting started?
What do people think?

In which case, count me in for the next challenge. I'm pretty sure I can make it work, based in London in 2013 and as many have described me - I can sell ice to Eskimos lol
Ok but that'll be in about 6 months as the £500 one is running atm. Might as well not wait and just go for it now?Little update. Started the mowers at the start of may and it has really taken off. I have turned over about 3-3.5K, costs running at about 15-20%. Seems this game has turned into a little business.
It has taken some of the fun out of it but I can't argue with the money. Now buying in bulk at even lower costs but it does mean my poor wife has a garden full of mowers and engines.
Currently have 10 mowers in stock, 3 more coming in and a list of customers who have requested them so now advertising on eBay is not necessary.
Also now have people requesting servicing and repairs on their machines, although the money on that isn't as good it takes much less time.

Is there a thread for startups done from nothing (potentially?)
Read this thread before, and got some good ideas, and slowly and without much work I have grown an idea and bought the first stock today, but with startup costs of about £20!
I'd post in the £500 thread. £20 is less than £500 so it qualifies!Read this thread before, and got some good ideas, and slowly and without much work I have grown an idea and bought the first stock today, but with startup costs of about £20!
