The £100 business start up challenge 2013-2014
Discussion
Back by popular demand! Following on from another thread and some positive comments about starting this one, I have set up the £100 business challenge thread here. This amount was selected as offering more options/diversity to start up compared to using smaller amounts. The ‘challenge’ is simply to make as much money as you can from £100. We have had a few successes in the past and hopefully we'll have a few more this time.
So that we can generate as diverse a type of businesses as possible the rules will be minimal but should:
1. Not involve just gambling the money as this is not in the spirit/is not the intention of this thread
2. Not be part of your normal day job, it should be something new but it can be in the same industry
3. Be something you do on your own, i.e. do not join with others to pool your money
4. Not involve selling something you already own
The challenge is £100 per business/idea therefore if you have 3 ideas you can try all of them as long as you stick to the £100 budget for each one.
That’s about it but if there are any other obvious points to add above from later posters I will add them in here.
In line with posters on here the challenge will start on 5 November 2013 and finish on 1 March 2014.
As this is a fairly informal challenge there is no requirement to have you results verified. If you say that you generated X by doing Y then that's good enough.
So, you’ve got £100. What are you going to do………?

I think I have about 7 ideas that would all be suitable for this, but time constraints mean that I will try maybe 1 or 2. I did enter into the 500 challenge but have got nowhere near being able to launch that yet. Just hope the same doesn't happen with this.
The 1 or 2 ideas for this will be a quick weekend's work to get to a "test stage". Essentially, they will be set up on a shoestring of budget and time, and then released into the world to see if they sink or swim. No further work will go into them, unless required due to demand. The intention being to fully automate them.
Once they are up and running, I shall give the details of the ideas.
Happy businessing!

I'm in - Looking to make a start towards the middle of the month.
Can anyone direct me to a company that will make a website for cheap, just 2 or 3 pages with a "contact us" form?
Or if this is part of your £100 challenge, i will see if i can support you!!
Probably something like Wix.com would be your best/cheapest route - haven't used it but it is meant to be pretty easy to use, and ideal if you are just after a presence Can anyone direct me to a company that will make a website for cheap, just 2 or 3 pages with a "contact us" form?

I would love to do something like this but unfortunately my brain doesn't work that way. Can anyone give me any ideas (without giving too much away) about the sort of company you could start with £100.
Market trading, any type of cleaning, leaflet distribution... I'm sure I saw a list of 100 online somewhere once. Frimley111R said:

If you build a website, get orders off the back of that but the cost to build the product before you sell it exceeds the £100 budget, are you excluded from the challenge?
Yes. ah well

My previous idea for the 2012-2013 challenge was to buy art materials and sell my art work. However, my time was spent elsewhere trying to gain more clients for my pet minding business rather than concentrating on the challenge.
I got round to buying some art materials and joining a local art class, which holds an exhibition of students' work at the end of each term
This was done towards the end of September, so hopefully I'm still eligible for this idea as an entry. Current spend £25.50 the 50p being the cost of a frame bought from a charity shop, only a few days ago, to show off my saleable masterpiece
