The £100 business start up challenge 2013-2014
Discussion
Yes I had a look at that prior to Christmas, I'm glad I didn't as I barely kept up with the couple of orders I had from friends, the company I used to make them was fully booked!
Something I'll certainly explore though, along with a few others, GearboxGifts, maybe the PH shop etc. The licensing thing will be a point of contention though, I really want it all done properly so I'm investigating umbrella type contracts at the moment.

Sounds like a good challenge. The better half has decided to have a go at making chutney (not of the ferret variety) and other preserves for markets and the like. Total spent to date about £15.
Are there not licenses and H&S stuff to follow? (I could be completely wrong as it's not an area I've looked into.)Things are progressing nicely here, albeit behind schedule massively.
I have a website that I am currently finishing off which will go live at the end of the month. I am selling a product to help children with GCSE Maths, but at this stage, that is all I will say.
In my spare time, I tutor Maths GCSE so have been using the students as willing guinea pigs - and things look good.
When is the cut off again?

My profit was eroded by a cock up on my Autosport trip when I booked the wrong date at the hotel, which of course was completely non-refundable. A replacement room cost 50% more too.
On the plus side, sold two more metal etch designs from batch 2 (each batch is 6 pieces), which netted another £150 profit.
A third piece went to an OEM at the show. Hopefully they'll get back to me about licensing it as an official product.
I have three more to sell. One is going on eBay tonight. Curious to see what it fetches.
Current total spent: £985
Current total income: £875
So currently at -£110, but I have some pieces in stock and some new contacts from the show.

Currently ForEx trading.
£10 in to start, paypal fees and a dodgy trade sees me at £8.74.
Plan to be back over the £10 by Friday and then upping to the £100 by the end of the month.
It's slow but it's fun!

Sosparkly is doing quite well. Managed to get it into a local hair salon, where over the last few months, we've been selling a fair bit of stock. Looking at expanding ranges, with a view to putting together a proper e-commerce site ( after the challenge) along with an eBay shop.
Also got some wedding fares and trade shows too......
Very little effort required at the moment, but all paperwork has been kept so we can prove to the IR that all monies made have been re-invested, so no "real world" profit as such, but the investment has increased a lot from the initial sum
