Ouch, bit harsh there. Forum copy is hardly the same.
It is when you enquire on a business forum, frequented by many people who run SMEs, about writing marketing collateral for a living!

Okay so I am going to make a few points on my behalf now as to why I came to these forums and for exactly what. I came asking for a little advice on whether people thought this was a viable idea and if it could actually be implemented as a real working business. I understand your issue with my grammar etc but these are quick post's and replies I am making throughout the day whilst trying to work on this venture and getting everything setup. I did not come here to be scrutinized and patronized. I do not mind constructive criticism but it seems like you have totally just tried to cut me down. Now if I have taken this the wrong way I apologize on my behalf but, I am just trying to ask for some advice from people who have experience in the business world.

Regarding the 24/7 at the computer screen, obviously the post's are going to have to be scheduled but everything that I plan to send out will be re-read and amended should there be grammar mistakes. Many smaller business' do not require someone sat there 24/7 and if they want me to be sat there for that long, well they get what they pay for. Whilst working I get as many breaks as the next person so engaging and responding to the online communities wont be that difficult. Obviously if the business grew and was providing sufficient income I could work on this venture full time and would be behind a screen all day, managing several clients account's.

Once again if I have taken your comments the wrong was I do apologize, maybe it is the way I have read the post. Thank you for your help and comments anyway guys.

It's the way of the internet - you should know this already. With that in mind, people have been very tame on this thread.

+ 1.

I have posted on here deliberately to get negative feedback at times. Too often you can say to people 'Is this a good idea?' and because they know and like you they say 'Yes' instead of being honest.

I still think you should do it, just do the job too, that way you spreading your risk and have some guaranteed income in the short term.

What we could have done was be real aholes with our replies to test your reaction.

I follow some big name magazines and when they post up links to articles that people disagree with, the followers really don't hold back. I don't mean they post stuff like "I kindly and with respect disagree with your article." It's more like, "What a load of utter bullst. It's this kind of st that makes me want to unfollow." How you deal with that is the real test as you could ruin a company's reputation if you post the wrong reply.

And, dare I say it, don't pay to advertise your page/group on FB because a clickfarm employee will like it even if they don't care which means your reach to quality targets is reduced.

I did wonder why only about 20% of my followers saw my posts.

Well guys thought I would just give you all an update as to where I am now currently. Unfortunately I haven't made my millions yet! This business was a no starter for me, whilst working full time I just couldn't make this work. Guess its back to the drawing board for the future anyway! smile

You've learnt stuff via your experience on the way so it hasn't been a waste of time. Your next venture will be that little bit more successful. smile

I would just add that whilst you haven't kicked this idea off, there has been some useful feedback in this thread which is the incredible privilege of being a forum member here.

Admittedly, I did not read everything in detail so apologies if you mention your age some where, but what I did read made me think you were a young person looking to get started.

Whilst this is a home-business idea, I'd urge you to reflect on your personal qualities that gave you the drive to start this in the first place, and use them to focus on what you may do next.

The bit that resonated most was your almost throwaway comment along the lines of ".....started a business 24hrs ago and I've rung a few businesses today, and aim to have an order secured by Friday....."

Really, this strikes me as a "go-getter" who is not afraid to try. You didn't really know what you were going to offer but you punted it anyway and is probably a good mark of a person who succeed.

Instead of a business now, you could consider a job where this positive and honest attitude will stand you well. You could learn the ropes from "elders" and experience things on the way until such time an opportunity slaps you square in the face.

Either way, do not let the entrepreneurial fire go out, you sound like you have it within you. You just need to find the next inspiration.

All the very best.

It's been surprising what I've learnt even though I haven't launched the business, hopefully this will help me in the long run smile Anyway right now I'm working full time on the buses not working for myself yet but it will happen, I'm just going to take some time to get myself some savings together and go from there. Thank you for you comments guys smile
