Would just like to do a quick check of whether it's worth changing supplier. I will come to the end of a contract with SSE soon and they are offering 24 months at:
  • £16/qtr
  • 10.8p/kWh for all units
  • 0.3p/kWh for FiTs Recovery charge (whatever that is!)
I don't use that much electricity (kettle, PC/printer, heaters in Winter) but the comparison sites all seem to require phone calls before I can see any competing rates.

So it would be useful to know if the rates are good/average/bad/terrible? TIA.

look up PHer Mr Overheads. He can get you deals that you can't get on the open market.

OP what was your total bill last year? Or Annual kWh usage? Take 2 Actual readings roughly 1 year apart

I need to move away from British Gas for my small unit

They are a pain

Reminder letters for bills when they have been paid

Had 15 calls in the past two weeks about 'upgrading' to a new digital meter

I work away 5 or 6 days a week, they don't appear to be able to comprehend that

Thanks for the offers of advice.

From my most recent bills, it appears I've used approx 800 units in the last year. And by comparison with the rates being offered now (see above), I have been paying:
  • £13.54 per quarter
  • 9.03 p/kWh for all units
  • 0.10 p/kWh for FiT charge

So your ANNUAL bill is only £127 in total? Does that match with what you actually paid (roughly)?

If so for each 1p change in p/kWh it's an extra £8 per year. Hardly worth the effort in switching.
