Starting a new Ltd co. business...with an old name

Afternoon all,
Quick bit of history....
About 10 years ago, I set up a company after a redundancy situation with the intention of going self-employed.
I worked on it for a few months and did some business through it, but got an offer of full time employment again which I couldn't turn down. I ran it for a couple of years as a sideline, but couldn't dedicate the time to it, so dissolved it - no debts and no angry people involved.
Fast forward to present day and the full time job is going to be going through it's 4th re-structure in as many years and I've had enough.
I'd like to try again and I've got a customer who is ready to go with me on a retainer basis which is a good starting point and I can work on building it up whilst still in full-time employment.
I always liked the old company name and I have logos etc already produced so the questions are...
1. I appreciate that I can't re-open the old company, but can I start a new company with the same name?
2. If so, any negatives in doing this?

I think as long as the old company was legal/correctly dissolved then I see no problems in the set up and I don't see any disadvantages either.
Such problems only come into play when and if you have had a poor trading history and you don't want the bad reputation to follow you etc etc.

If the old company name has not been used by another company, then there should be no reason why you cannot set up a new company using that original name. Check with the Companies House website to see if someone else snaffled the name in the intervening years. Just type in the name of your old company in the appropriate box and see what turns up -
