I've been having a couple of issues using Paypal as my payment gateway for my E-Commerce business recently, and have decided to look at other solutions.

I do like the look of Sagepay, however that will mean I need a merchant account too, which is also added costs for me. Paypal would be the cheaper option but as I say I've had issues.

Can anybody recommend a Paymeny gateway + merchant account provider? I currently Business bank with Lloyds, would I be best off using them for my Merchant account too and keep everything in one place?

Thank you.

I didn't think SagePay was that much more expensive than PayPal and they do offer merchant accounts: http://www.sagepay.co.uk/our-payment-solutions/add...

Otherwise, I've heard decent things about PaymentSense recently.

I used paymentSense to get the merchant account

WorldPay for the payment gateway.

12 months running so far and not any issues with either the 2 working together in harmony.

I have yet to see a Payment gateway that is more expensive than Paypal

Worldpay are good (if stuck in the mainframe era)

Wirecard are good. Especially if you want multi-currency dealings (they're a German outfit, but have a UK office in Ireland)

I've used SagePay and Elavon as the merchant account for a couple of years now and had no issues at all.

You can cover your costs with transaction fees, of course if you feel that is suitable in your market.

Thanks guys, appreciate the comments and will look into them. Lloyds are offering a competitive merchant account package and as I bank with them the transfer time of funds should be shorter.

Just had another look at Stripe. The rate is expensive, but I like the fact that there are no other charges. The mobile integration looks excellent too so it's probably a good choice for startups.

I have had good experiences with Datacash and Commidea (now part of VeriFone) both through HSBC (now Global Payments - and less good)

I use Strip which is integrated to my invoicing software - Freshbooks. It's easy and hassle free. Clients don't see the Stripe branding so have no idea they are leaving the dashboard. They also have the option of Paypal. I used to have only Google Checkout and Paypal. Since switching to Stripe the % that take paypal has dropped considerably.

I use Lloyds for my merchant account and SagePay as my payment gateway. SagePay are brilliant when you need to speak to someone with 24/7 365 day support and really friendly/helpful staff.

Thank you Boro, I have chosen to use Lloyds and SagePay also, I can't complain at the rates it's by far cheaper than Paypal.

Just need to sort a couple of things out for those pesky underwriters smile
