We fit a lot of wooden climbing frame systems and have had a request for a tunnel for kids (actually adults in this case) to crawl through. This is the first request we have had for this. I can't help thinking that their are lots of industrial pipes that we could use for this but I am at a bit of a loss where to start to look. The pipes ideally should be plastic but other materials may be ok.

Any ideas?

I've seen some other outdoor adventure places use pipe which us in two halves bolted together. Looks mire like grp from a mould. Just a fyi to help with your searches.

galt toys / hope
amco

both will do spiral pvc flexible stuff - should be more fun than a rigid pipe.

Yep, waterslide ones are ok but probably quite expensive when compared to a piece of 'industrial' type pipe. It only has to sit on the gorund and then we can secure/support it to stop it rolling around, or even bury it/cover it, not sure yet.

I am not sure' it'd be rigid enough although potentially it could be a semi circle on the ground (although a bit muddy1)

vent pipe won't be tough enough if buried. most cost effective way is twinwall pe pipe. 750mm/900mm are the most popular,1200mm no problem, and can be bigger, but then you would walk, and not crawl! with a square or round entry/exit surround welded on. length up to 6m. bit costly, but I do supply them around the country for playgrounds, so must be cost effective. if it's not important what diameter/length, then watch for large construction jobs locally, watch for off-cuts, offer to buy for cash. can be cut to size with a jigsaw or even a handsaw.

Frimley - You could try giving MoorFabrications a call - they make lots of Thermoplastic constructions for various industries and have the scale and capability to make exactly what you require. If you call, speak to Martin King (the main man) - and let him know James from Nurdwurks passed on his details on the chance he maybe able to help (Hopefully he will put some more work my way as a result ;-) )

Have you considered concrete drainage pipes, large selection of diameters available and usually in 2.4 m lengths.
