@Russy did you sort a machine? I would be interested to hear if you did.

I have been considering this machine today.. http://www.safescan.com/uk/productDetail/48/118/cl...

The company are based on Holland but i got an email at the end of the day from a UK reseller so will call him tomorrow.

My thinking is if the finger print thing doesn't work for whatever reason they scan their card. And we'll have a CCTV camera above it to rule out any buddy clocking.

Kronos fingerprint scanner was kaput on a recent visit to a Care Home I visited recently, so saw everyone typing in a number. So I wouldn't expect these type of readers to last the test of time.

Sorry fella. Few things have come up so I haven't done anything about it yet. I'm half tempted to just have a sign in/ out book in the entrance to my office!

Sorry to hijack this thread but since you mentioned getting a clocking in machine i have just sorted one for our business. I went with a fairly basic model from a company called Clockrite (picture below) and it has fingerprint and RFID cards for clock in/out. I thought that if the staff forget their cards they can use their finger and if the finger scanner doesn't work they can use their cards!

It comes with it's own software and seem pretty straight forward. I have linked it into our network with a cat5 cable so can access it from our managers pc in the office.

I'm not integrating with Sage but apparently it does that. I just purely want it to keep an eye on staff start and finish times and so that if i ever need to have a conversation with a staff member i have some evidence as to their start/finish times.

I'm installing a camera above it too, to discourage buddy clocking.

Bump

How are you getting on with this machine, we need to consider something similar ASAP to replace an old clock card system to reduce manual adding up and scribbling on paper!

I also want to link it to xero payroll, or at least capture the relevant data easily.

Thanks.

We've been using it since September 2014 with no issues at all. On that basis i would recommend it.

I'd avoid something like that, we used to have a similar one and it was horrific.

This kind of stuff is the way forward.

So how do ~ average people without smart phones clock in/out of a building, I am a bit confused by what you have suggested here?

Exactly....all well and good in an office environment, but it wouldn't work for us.

I bought a fancy digital system and got fed up with it. So in the end bought an old school Seiko QR-395. Does absolutely everything I need it to without the need of wires, settings, silly networks etc. Staff simply have cards, staff get paid whats on card.

So far this seems to be one of the best I have come across, still doing a bit of research:

exactly - ignoring the fact that the 'number' / 'hash' created by the scanner is not a finger print image and not detailed enough for criminal standards of proof ...

We have started using an App - timestation, as we have lost of different locations to clock in. Works very well and you can let staff have it on their phone and clock in themselves. The app has a built in location/GPS function so they can't clock in from their bed !

Also if you have less than 10 users its free
