Ive just spent half hour going through some of the biggest and most successful electrical contractors in the UK, every one is loaded with text.

Im confused.

I know its not trendy but is it maybe relative to my industry to have a lot of info?

Remember Im not trying to sell Philippe Starck chairs or the latest gadget.

Im also wary of looking too good, When Im turning over 10m yes, uber cool will work but while I'm still appealing to your average homeowner its important we don't look too fancy. We are a relatively small outfit.
It's not about being fancy for fancy's sake, it's just about deciding what you want to achieve from the site and then going about it in the simplest and most effective way possible.

Think about what you want the customer to do, is is to call? Is it to give their contact info for your database? Is it to educate? Is there a reason to call now? Is there an incentive for them doing so?

I've just had a look at the other pages (something not every visitor will do) and there's some good stuff there along the right lines. Why choose us, testimonials, are your electrics safe? This is the stuff you want to condense and get on the homepage. Once you've got their attention they're more likely to read more on the business background etc. You've got most of what you need it just needs rearranged a bit.

Having said all that and everything else on this thread there is a case for 'good enough is good enough'. Meaning your average Joe isn't going to think about this nearly as much as you are and obsessing over every last detail doesn't make a whole lot of difference in the end. I'm terrible for it.
