I am an electrical contractor, with just myself at the moment so only a very small sized business (but growing rapidly)

As things have got busier, the amount of waste I'm bringing home has increased to more than I can really keep taking to the tip.

It's only general waste I need, ie bits of rubble from walls, plastic packaging etc. cable is saved and sold.

I have had a quote from a Cita for a 120L wheelie bin, which came to £12 a collection, then £13 a month landfill tax.

Does this sound about right?

Also I trade from a residential address, would I have any issues with this? Would a neighbour have a right to complain by having a separate commercial collection a week?

Cheers

We have a domestic sized wheelie bin from Kier Environmental (formerly run by local authority and just been contracted out).

We have collection every fortnight - £24 per month = £12 per collection. Standard office waste only (kitchen refuse and paper based stuff).

Once you establish a need, prepared to be hammered by whoever collects (dry hardcore only, no plasterboard, no asbestos, no dangerous substances, no electricals, bla bla bla...)

I have an 1100L bin with Veoilia that cost £11.47+vat per fortnight, this is for all general waste at work.

I have a bodyshop so paint covered paper and plastic etc.

Just make sure your collection is scheduled for a reasonable time (i.e. during the day).

I live next to a commercial property - their big four wheeled bin is collected at 5.30am every Tuesday. It doesn't bother me, as I'm up early, but it could easily upset someone.

Cheers guys, had another quote from elsewhere (smiths)

Who quoted me a £40 annual charge, then £8 a drop for a 240L bin.

This sounds much better value, while I will most likely take up.
