Sounds ridiculous but this looks promising

http://www.contractoruk.com/news/0011724contractin...

Don't suppose anything will come of it, but if they are just trying to fob us off it means they realise there is an issue.

alternatively by outlawing sole traders it will be a way to allow Labour's statist interventionalist, yoghurt knitting lentil wearing equality over equity ste to pervade ... a

'fltd's sound like a great idea until they find the same requirements that cause the S end of SME to complain about heavy handed regulatory regimes .... I hope your DSE assessments are up to date, your home office has a full fire plan and environmental statments, is your equality act assessment for premises up to date ? and your publications equality of access policy ? ...

Statist, Interventionist, 'ihr papier bitten' style over substance being sold as being 'nice' to contractors ...

A law enforcing payment terms would be much more helpful I think.

While that would be a good thing (I am not too chuffed being forced to lend a FTSE top 10 company £250k for 5 months) I have a nasty feeling that would result in 90 day+ terms across the board.

Careful what you wish for. Uncertainty around IR35 could be removed by making it a PAYE requirement.

or replaced with a byzantine and arcane claim back system after tax and NI were taken in something like the CIS scheme.

many people see 'contractors' in IT and some engineering settings especially the office dwellers who work for the same place monthin month out as some kind of tax evasion scheme

there is widespread tax evasion in certain businesses where casual work / working for multiple providers is common ( short course training, event services , SIA )

Never ever ever trust labour. They brought in IR35 and for that they should stay eternally in the 7th level of hell

Actually I don't have an issue with IR35 with the exception of the uncertainty where you fall in the middle of the tests.

iR35 hopefully provided a little more consistency in a area which by nature has to have grey areas ( you can't say if you are told where to work you must be an employee - as then no builder / land trade / gardener could be S.E) as have been discussed in previous topics in this board or the J+E board on pH ...

+1. I'd honestly rather stick with the current system than any Labour party reforms.
