Would like to sell a reg plate, but are there fees involved to do this?

Yes, but most companies will add a percentage to what you ask for - may be 10%, may be 60%.

Fill out the reg transfers form on site and tell them what you want for it - they will advertise it for more - that's it.
I don't think you will retire on the proceeds though

Depends on the numbers. I have B24 & 24B, I would expect a good return for the pair.

Yep but B24 (circa £50k) and AAD 44H (circa £250) unless you find Mr Aadaah looking for a plate wink

So best to sell through a company do you think?
Is it a pain to sell privately?

I sold a private plate right here on PH and got back what I paid for it (minus DVLA fees). So you may as well have a go - after all the internet is seen by everybody.

When you sell to someone is there a fee to transfer it?

DVLA will want a fee though I can't remember who pays it or how much it is. £75 seems to ring a bell. I'm sure it will be on their website somewhere.

I got so fed up with paying DVLA fees and having to take my car to them for 'inspection' (no car park banghead) that I determined never to bother again.

The DVLA can ask you to take your car to one of their centres so they can look at the VIN. IIRC it wsa a 'random' check but I got called in every time.

Look, I managed to it by just going and doing it. Why don't you?
