You take out an advert in the back page of some gay mag, advertising the latest in arse-intruding dildos. You sell it with, I dunno, "does what no other dildo can do until now", "the latest and greatest in sexual technology", "guaranteed results or your money back", all that bks. Now, these dils cost twenty-five quid a pop. That's a snip for the amount of pleasure they're gonna give the recipients. But they send their cheques to the other company name – nothing offensive, er, "Bobbie's Bits" or something – for twenty-five quid. You take that twenty-five quid, you stick it in the bank until it clears. Now, this is the smart bit. You send back the cheque for twenty-five pound from the other company name, "Arse Tickler's Faggots Fan Club", saying we're sorry, we couldn't get the supplies from America because they ran out of stock. Now, you see how many people cash that cheque: not a single soul, because who wants their bank manager to know they tickle arse when they're not paying cheques?

You sound like a man of experience! Although I am sure someone has actually done something like this? (Not on PH!)

It's from Lock stock, brilliant idea though.

OT: The other half wants to pack in her job, and start something. £500 to get going sounds do-able, but she'll have all the time in the world!

Stock lines identified, suppliers sourced, ebay business seller page started, postage options researched, new paypal and bank acc linked to keep everything separate.

Total spend £0
Total profit £0
Total loss £0 and some time

I am in.

Looking forward to this!

I should have done it many threads ago so having been made redundant recently - the time is now!

The girl was over 3/4 of a million dollars and the bloke couldn't crack 3k. That disheartening to say the least.

Second batch of stock arrived today. It cost me £200 and i've it all on to end as auctions between Friday evening and Sunday evening. Hoping to return £300 out of that.

I've other stock due to arrive from the remainder of my £500 and i'm on the lookout for more with my now £145 from the £90 sale.

On target to be at £700 mid month, and on track to have that translated to £1000 by the end of the month.

On the downside my study is now stacked high with stock and boxes which the missus is starting to take a dim view of.

If anybody is interested in raising a bit of pin money to work with, i did a bit of a clear out of books, dvds, blu rays and computer games at the turn of the year there. A lot of that would be slow selling on ebay so i used

www.webuybooks.co.uk and Amazon Trade in for the books. It was actually interesting the variance in prices between the two - sometimes Amazon were offering significantly more for a book, other times it was webuybooks. Got £67.21 between them and they pay the postage.

DVDs, Blurays and Games were next, used webuydvds.co.uk and got £80.46 for those.

Flogged a TV remote and a couple of the higher priced games on ebay for £66.26

I'll enter again although I never really got going properly last year due to moving house.

Last year I entered late on in the summer with lawn mower refurbishment and selling online. Only got around to doing one in the end but bought for £25, spent £15 on parts, and sold for 90.

I'm going to do the same again this year but really try and churn some volume out over spring and summer. Aim is for around minimum £1000 profit over 5 months.

I'll spend the next 2-3 months acquiring some stock and refurbing it ready for sale in spring.

if someone knows what they are doing, there is money to be made from buying old Dyson vacuum cleaners or bicycles from your local rubbish dump and repairing them and selling as reconditioned. My local dump sorts everything of any value out and sells for a fair price, but plenty of room for making a profit

Didn't a chap do quite well doing exactly that with Dyson's in a previous iteration of this challenge?

Ah, I knew I read it somewhere, that must have been it.
Given the price of new Dyson's, reconditioned ones must be profitable, depending on where you can get the broken ones from and for how much

I think he was making pretty good money at it. If I remember correctly, he was having a bit of a tough-time moneywise anyway, and the capital was the bit holding him back (buying extra stock) to grow it faster.
