Has anyone else been affected by Sages sudden announcement that Sage line 50 accounts became unsupported as the end of January. We received this about two days prior to it becoming unsupported.
We are now being told that the replacement product will not run on our sbs server , as they are trying to get us to use a cloud solution- which is not compatible with our broadband speed, and have just been given a quote for a dedicated Sage server and upgrade of our accounts package which as you can imagine comes to a good few thousand, all of which is unbudgeted.
I'm in the quandary of not wanting to use an unsupported product which if it goes wrong will cost us lost time, data and inconvience, however I feel somewhat aggrieved at the notice given, or lack of it, and the fact we are supposed just to swallow hard and pay for our peace of mind.
How has anyone else similarly affected in this scenario dealt with it?

News to me.

Is it not just that you have an old unsupported version and you need to upgrade to more recent version to ensure availability of support?

Quite normal process AIUI.

Should be no need to use cloud based system.

You mention SBS server out of interest what version are you using 2003, 2003r2, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2012r2? I know that 03r2 goes EOL in July of this year and line 50 v21 doesn't play nicely on SBS 2011. There are ways around this problem if you only use the server as a datastore not a client.

yes I have people using sbs2011 and sbs2008 as an accounts 2015 server, no issues that I recall.

If you're going to go Cloud look at other companies offerings too, Xero, freeagent, freshbooks etc.

If your accountant has the current (and past) versions of sage you can migrate the data through the versions from the one you own to current version should you need any help from sage.

Thanks for your replies.
Sorry my terminology was wrong, it is indeed our version which becomes unsupported, and we are told that the new version will not run on our sever. I'm not sure what Sage version we have or what our server runs, will however check.
Any further advice most welcome.

How bad is your broadband speed? Cloud accounting software isn't particularly taxing.

I'd be looking to move away from the pile of st that is Sage and onto something like Xero even if you weren't currently having technical issues.
