This is quite a common tactic I know but I wondered how many of you do this and what, if any, difference it has made to your leads/responses?

They are usually pretty easy to spot, at least the ones I have come across are, it depends on how savvy your potential clients are.

I got caught out by one junk call today using a normal number. I told the recorded lady to fk off and hung up. The same number rang again later but by then I was wise...

So the harder you try, the more annoyed they'll be when you eventually succeed.

Blimey, who rattled your cage?!

FYI we have contractor teams across the UK but recognise that some people prefer a local company but see ours as not being local.

Sorry i can see why my reply could seem blunt, however you are trying to trick / make think / come across as being local to to your target market but infact you are not.

To me this is not a good way to start off a business relationship, some may think it is ok ? but for me it would be a big turn off. I have been on some SEO seminars where i think Google took a dim view on this to, but i may be wrong there.

Good luck with it anyways.

Ok, I can understand it not being on if there's nothing in a particular area but a company implies there is, but the reality for us is that we do have locations and teams who are local to customers there. Our head office is just for calls and admin.
