I can also direct you to a PHer who I assisted previously in recovering debt, and he'll show you the letter his High Court bailiffs sent him about what happened when his debtors wok up at 7am to find their car already on a low-loader. smile

Stop with all the Police stuff. It's not theft because there was no dishonest appropriation and intent to permanently deprive would be hard to overcome.

It's a civil matter.
Without trying to kick off a massive PH bun fight I have to ask, exactly what are the Police for?
Giving then collecting speeding fines wink just got one myself bds!

Do you really think you can just make up a contract with a random number on it, hear nothing back and say "okay thats a deal". then set legal enforcement on her when she inevitably doesn't pay it? If so, why stop at £150? Why not just say she's bought all the items outright and chase her for £20k?
Sounds suspiciously like what happens when you enter a car park!

Just a thought - does she have a LinkedIn? If she updates that when she's got a new job you can always find her there.

I suspect at this point its going to be worthless. Its not like she's some drug addict or petty thief... when she gets a new job the car is going to come back. I don't think anyone realistically thinks she's going to try and keep it permanently?

Knowing her new employer will be handy though... a quick chat with her new boss should see her back in unemployment laugh

To be fair, she's got the OP's car, iPad and iPhone. If it was just the car she wanted temporarily, she would have given the rest back.

She knows she should not have them. She has moved house, and refuses to give the OP her address. The intent is clear. She may or may not be a drug addict, but she is a petty thief.

If she is of the mindset that this is acceptable and/or she will get away with it for four weeks, then is it not a reasonable possibility that the longer this goes on, the more she believes she has, and will get away with it?

Just got her keys back in the post with no note saying where the car is. She is still using the mobile so obviously that isn't with the car.

What a cow. She probably thinks she is being dead funny and clever. Send JustinP1 a PM for more details on how to sort it or follow his method. Keeping the car etc. is one thing, her sending the keys back is one big fk you. Find out the weekly cost of ownership of your items, send her a bill, I guess with a note that the return of the kys does not denote a return of the car, and wait. Then send the bailiffs after her.

Send a text to the mobile asking where the fk the car she's posted you the keys for is?!? Also, perhaps worth mentioning that the Police are looking for her for being a dirty thieving bd, unless you've already done this.

Maybe she's just monumentally thick and thinks giving you the keys = giving you the car...

My money would be on parked on double yellows or a really expensive NCP style car park.

Not good.

The Police have been able to speak to her and she has agreed to meet them Sunday. We now know where the car is parked. lets see what she says to them on Sunday!

Although you know where its parked, Im assuming you and the police both know and have photographed said vehicle?

I really hope that they throw the book at her, and you stick it to her as well; if it was me I certainly would be ensuring that she was punished in whatever way that was legally possible.

Good result.

Hopefully the police will be ready to take your other stuff too?

I trust they will still prosecute for the theft until the vehicle is returned.

Fingers crossed she'll show on Sunday and you get everything back.

If she is a no show and you wish to look into the private investigator route, I've used a great one before through work. Last time he came up with up to date contact details/location for the individual and parents within a few hours. I can send you his details if it is of interest.
