For reference, it might be worth looking at London Live - which was launched last year. They were looking to spend five or six million a year for three years before they expected to break even.

and it's looking doubtful now they ever will. Most of these local TV stations will be gone in the next few years once the backers realise they're not going to make money out of them.

Why don't you look at a properly promoted You Tube channel?

All the broadcasters are doing it...
TV advertising revenue is higher than Youtube.

Tv is a 'home' thing and can attract a big audience.

Laptop/phone/PC is a 'in your own time' sort of thing.

All in my humble opinion.

Besides, I dont have 6 figures to throw into something that could bankrupt me.
So you've had the worlds best idea for a new startup and have found The Goose That Lays The Golden Egg, and you're letting a silly thing like funding stop you?

Or was it a dumb idea in the first place?
Yep, it was the world's best idea(!)

Youtube!!! Its not about how much you make as a revenue stream but HOW MUCH you get I,e would you care if you got £20k a month or £50k a month. I would argue both are pretty good!!!

Some of the figures for YT are crazy - ok not millions of pounds like TV but still serious, serious money.

But it has to be popular. Look at some of the well known "driving" YT channels... they make hardly anything once production costs are covered. But some dude does a 7 second video about trainers and gets $20k to make another 7 second video with some product placement! All because his first video had 20 million views. And it goes on from there!!
