Our German account after 6 years got a vero request, they say its a new EU directive and they want all sorts from passports of directors to insurance proof. Thing is they suspend your sales whilst you are checked and this can be 8 - 10 days.

Total shambles and without thought or warning

that seems extremely odd that its without a warning I always used to get an error to say to verify my identy.

Your right though it seems a bit much to suspend an account over it - I am sure a simple call to yourselves would have you providing the info

Got further into it, every account is getting checked !! For uk sellers selling via uk it's quite straightforward but we use Germany as a European hub selling to France, Italy etc from there and it's more complicated. We have had 2 emails one with 48 hours and one with 8 hours, the girl said 10 days!!!

Were using the time to tidy the warehouse !!!

It's been going on a while now. They seem to have started on the small new sellers first and now they are moving on to corporates.

If they ask us for any personal details like passport numbers and tax returns, as they have for the tiddlers, they will be told to unceremoniously do one, or give us Jeff Bezos' home address and a copy of his passport.

They will just suspend your sales and you will get lost is a myriad of overseas call centres

Did they suspend your UK sales or just your German ones? From the Amazon forums this has been a nightmare for a lot of people. Amazon are asking sellers to upload scans (pdf format) of utility bills, UTR number, passport or DL, LTD certificates etc etc... all having to display the correct names and less than 90 days old. A lot of people have been suspended whilst verification is being checked eek

UK was fine, on UK our account is so old we can't do lots of things a current user can and I am too scared to migrate. Germany wrote us a creepy sorry email and no harm done but it shows how you just cannot base a company on a third party platform.

All the current stuff is just to do with them splitting the marketplace and payment services surely? I have had to upload umpteen passports, bills etc to prove our legitimacy for the now new account (marketplace account and payment account.)

We had velocity probs last year, it's just when you reach the kind of credit limit they set for you. In fairness sales did jump about 500% on that specific account in a short time, but instead of talking with us and giving us a once over they suspended the account from selling and put a hold on our disbursement whilst the account review was undertaken.
The review took a couple days, but annoyingly this covered our typical disbursement day, so they held the funds until the next disbursement 2 weeks later which wasn't ideal (200k!)

I had a right tantrum as I couldn't believe they suspend your account to conduct their own review. I spoke to several people about it and it sounds like I wasn't the only one and that this was the standard procedure for hitting velocity limits.

How do you get on with FBA? I refuse to let them have both my stock and my money when they treat us like dirt....

Russ you CANNOT do FBA with anything like Lego, example - buyer needs a missing brick for a set or has a broken motor, buys your kit, swaps part carefully repacking and sends back to amazon freepost or collected as unwanted for refund. In a month or whatever you clear your returns and you get a pallet back or mainly crap that is a write off or needs a clued up person to go through each one then you sell it as used etc etc. A cheaters dream. Sometimes you dont even get the right item back but you dont know who the exact buyer was and they are refunded anyway plus you paid the return post.

Utopia ?

Nah we're not interested in it as I said above. I've heard from others that returns can be a nightmare...
As a customer I know how willy nilly they accept returns etc, couldn't be doing with that....

We've just gone through the verification on Amazon & it was a bloody nightmare. You can't speak to anyone at Amazon (and I'm not exaggerating here, they are a team that do not take calls) which doesn't help when they keep asking for things that don't exist (they wanted company registration information when me & the OH are a partnership - not a company), ask for the same things repeatedly and then send several emails asking for completely different things.

We managed to get "verified" with only 2 days to go before we would have been suspended. The stupid thing is, we sell in a "gated" classification (clothing) and actually had to be verified before we could sell on Amazon anyway and nothing has changed in 3 years.

Overall, it was an awfully stressful experience.

R E S U L T >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ok so were approved and it was a faf (not my faf) and my "do it" guy got my name wrong B U T and its a huge B U T

16000 Euros was sat in Italy, France and Spain without an attached bank account just slowly accumulating - totally unexpected bonus. Its accrued over 18+ months and was small enough to get lost in currency transfer etc.

Chuffed.

We've had the opposite. I got the notifications to say I had 60days to complete, so thought that's alright I'll do it next week. Then out of the blue I had some geezer on the phone trying to hurry us up with it, I told him to give me a break as I have 60days and he kept on that it has to be done ASAP.

So I scanned all the paperwork in (council tax bills for the personal elements) and thought it was all done. Until they rejected the council bills as they are not official enough (even though they'd accept a sky bill!!)
So now I still haven't dug out other bills to complete the process, but I get a call nearly everyday chasing me up....

Good news on that 16k Dave!! There's a nice holiday or two there!!

Italy want a utility bill, none of the other countries did and I really want to stop selling in Italy so I might let it slide.

I'm glad I'm not in that game, all the utilities are done online and in the girlfriends name.

UK wanted a utility bill and a statement with Company Name, Plus IDs and utilities bills of each Director.

They also wanted a sworn better from the other directors/owners that I was allowed to be the main point of selling.

Took best part of 6 weeks to complete as they would always go away and discuss new documents so it was always 2 weeks waiting every time.
