I could do with picking the brains of a fine art specialist if possible.

I have come across a new technology for my business that has much wider applications.

In simple terms it is a short range 3D scanner and printer, that can copy surface textures with super high precision. You can scan literally any object but then print out a copy of it. (sizes up to approx 1.6m x 2.5m, x 150mm thick)

So for example a museum or artist could take an original masterpiece and make reproductive copies, including the depth of paint strokes and so on, to the untrained eye you cannot tell the difference.

It would also be great for architectural applications, ie bespoke wall surfaces with texture and so on. You can literally print what looks and feels like a brick wall, with full control over depth and size.

This equipment is in its infancy and costs as much as a house, I have some applications for my own business but would like to consider other applications and find new clients first, maybe acting as a fulfilment centre and even setting up a partnership or new type of company for this project.

Much appreciated.

I saw something similar at a Glasgow Uni spin off company a couple of years back, initially they were scanning cadavers and patients to create an accurate 3D anatomy model.
Their burn rate of euro funding was very high so they were mapping historic buildings as a sideline.

The human anatomy was very impressive on a 30ft screen, and you could "walk" through the model, was v weird but fascinating as you peeled back the various layers, they were wanting to use it as a surgical teaching tool.
