One man company just setting up, engineering services. Any ideas/guides on the costs time scale involved in accreditation?
Is it required to be UKAS too?

Seen some of the usual quick '30 day' stuff on the 'net but is this possible?

ETA - too many 0s

we have it, much easier to get than I imagined, even easier to keep once you have it, the companies doing the accreditation have vested interested in keeping you on the correct side of a pass, I really don't know if it helps my company now, it certainly helped with QC in the early stages but now we have everything in place in not sure if it pays for its self with extra business, before we had it, it didn't seem a problem for people to deal with us, but now when they ask and we can just say yes we have it and give our accreditation number. I would say if you don't go the UKAS route pick the absolute cheapest, people in the know will insist on UKAS, if they don't know anything will do.
We did ours fairly quickly, cant remember the costs exactly but think it was around 2k to get it then about £500 a year to keep it. Thats for UKAS, but prices vary greatly, with the likes of BSI charging the most.
