As per title. I have an email list of over 10,000 subscribers and need the cheapest platform to send mailouts from; preferably pay as you go as emails will be few and far between and paying per month won;t really make sense.

Other than Mailchimp, are there any decent providers who are good value?

Do you have a particular problem with Mailchimp or are you just looking for other options? In my experience for that sort of volume there's nothing nearly as good as Mail Chimp for the same/similar money. Dotmailer would be my other recommendation but will cost you a bit more.

Campaign Monitor is pretty good.

If you're hand coding all your emails then there will be cheaper options. If you want templates, easy to manage lists etc there won't be anything materially cheaper than Mailchimp

You cannot legally use MailChimp, read here for info - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

You have to use a UK/EU provider.

10k isn't a massive volume and should be around the £100/mth mark for a professional provider.

I'd help you out but being 'cheap' is right at the end of our objectives, deliverabilty and IP reputation being right at the top.

You have to use a UK/EU provider.
You can't possibly say that without knowing what data he has.

He has names and email addresses, which is enough to be personal data under the DPA.

Sort of right, but my guess is it is UK/EU data as he's based in Manchester, it'll be personally identifiable data as it is email.

I've got a tenner to charity of your choice if I'm wrong.

I imagine you're right, but then I'm also willing to bet that no European based SME will be punished for sending emails via MailChimp or Campaign Monitor.

If anyone does come a cropper of this Safe Harbour bs it'll be the large corporations who are deliberately ignoring the rules.

In the same way I believe no one has been punished for the utterly stupid cookie law!

Now there's something we can agree on, the most ridiculous digital legislation they could have conceived of.

Is there any evidence of UK users abandoning mailchimp en-masse because of this new ruling? What UK mailers are as easy to use as mailchimp?

It uses mandrill and Amazon SES, both US services, both cannot be used by EU data owners.

Ah, good news.

If you use them, could you do a reverse IP look up and see where the IP address resolves to and post the results?

Many thanks.

I 'liked' it for the irony of needing a cookie to implement it!
