I am looking into options to improve the way I log business miles and manage VAT reclaims.
Initially I was looking into fuel cards, but since it will only ever be company directors buying fuel and they have debit/credit cards there might not be a need.

We have 3 vehicles, 2 are commercial purely for business miles
Occasionally a personal vehicle is used and mileage is reclaimed at the usual rates.

Can anyone recommend an app that would work across multiple vehicles? Or would a fuel card be the easier option?
Yearly spend is not huge, on the fringe of the £300 p/m that many require.

Possibly an expensive option, however, I have a tracker (RAC Trackstar) on my car. It has an additional subscription to a service that tracks mileage with the ability to tag journeys as business.

Looking for a cheaper option. I always have my phone on me, so seems a waste to spend more money when I have that functionality.

Tried that. Always forget. My device beeps at me to remind me I need to do something. Easily paid for itself in recording journeys that I would otherwise have forget.

Well I have gone down the app route with MEL Pro.
It does what I need - time will tell whether or not I remember to put the mileage in all the time!!

Personally, nwe have 2 vehicles which both get used for business and pleasure use doing around 30k p/a.

I looked at apps but couldnt find a suitable one so now have a task each day on my phone to make a note of miles in the phones notes app. Once a week I have an admin day and I look at my calendar for where I travelled to and the notes for the mileage to complete a basic excel spreadsheet.

My car has a trip computer which can be set to automatically reset overnight which helps.

Takes 30 seconds a day and a few minutes to do the spreadsheet.

Not as nice as an app but does the job for me
