Asking Prices for Manuals still climbing!!

seriously is there any pistonheaders that would actually pay that for a manual. I loved my manual 360 but no way I would be paying 30%++ to buy it

2005 and 20,000 miles. Someone is having a giraffe at that price. Wouldn't even part with £100k for a F430 when you can get a McLaren 12C for £110k

You pays your money and takes your choice but that is seriously overpriced IMHO

I'm not sure..... I don't think a manual F430 is trying to be a McLaren 12C, it's a very different car and people buy each for different reasons.

Also, I can remember not that long ago at all, people were saying £90k - £100k was absolute madness for a low mileage, manual 355, such prices were simply insane!! Where as now, you can see below that a low mileage one is being offered for £160k! All of a sudden that £90k - £100k price tag looks cheap!

It's just my opinion, but I honestly think it won't be long at all before £130k will be very much the "Norm" for a Manual F430..... And in 5 years time £130k will sound like an absolute bargain!

You might be right but I think manual F355's were always going to be a classic and being the last pretty Ferrari that wasn't mass produced will seriously help its cause. Aint no amount of money making me part company with my F355 GTS manual.

TBH I preferred the F1 gearbox in the F430

Just because prices currently keep rising does not make them any less mad imo. I think the chance of your 130k manual 430 looking cheap in 5 years is not much better (if at all) than the chance of it looking very overpriced.

Truly limited cars might continue to increase in value as long as they have no mileage on them - but I think eventually an end will come to price increases on bog standard cars.

The 355 is very pretty, last of its kind etc, but even those will drop eventually imo - just because a delivery mileage car will probably be sold for a boatload won't make all the ones with 20k-50k miles (aka 100k miles turned back a few times) collectable suddenly. And there are only so many people willing to stomach a 100k plus purchase price and running costs of an old Ferrari on such a car (many thousands built) once rates go up and the car suddenly does not look like a tax free, double my money while having fun asset any longer

This price bubble will burst. Just make sure you don't buy on a high and sell on a low. Prices have generally risen on even mass produced high mileage cars but I would say its equally likely that this £130k 20,000 mile car could be worth £70k ( pre price rise price ) when the correction occurs. That £60k loss could occur quite quickly as people off load on mass

Buy in at this level and I would suggest the downside risk is greater than the upside as I don't see any standard F430 being worth £200k no matter if they even wind the mileage back into negative figures

That 355 gtb at £160k has sold !

The mclaren argument vs a 430 manual is utterly meaningless - one is an unloved problematic technofest and the other is last of the breed (midengined/v8 manual) from a company whose product has a following like no other.

May as well say that 993 turbos (last of the breed - aircooled) are a rip off compared to the newer faster technofest 991turbo... such a comparison is irrelevant to how the market works when pricing older or rarer stuff

From what I understand, there were less than 250 UK RHD Manual F430's produced, (inclusive of both spider and coupe variants), that sounds like pretty low numbers to me,

I think it is without question, that the 355 is a beautiful car and has an engine sound like nothing else - I have to admit, I definitely prefer it to the sound of my 430 - That said, the 355 does have it's downsides, firstly there's the engine out servicing, it drives like a car from the last century, (which after all, is what it is) and it has a dashboard which looks like it came out of a Fiat.... None of these factors have affected it's value and none of which I think should.

Furthermore, you just said it yourself, "Ain't no amount of money making me part company with my F355 GTS manual" and I don't blame you for that, it's a fantastic car and a great investment - And that's just it, there's lots of people who feel exactly the same way about there Manual F430's and with such low numbers produced there will always be a demand, for what is essentially the end of an era in Ferrari's history, the last and most advanced Ferrari produced with a manual gearbox!

Just one final thought, I went to the London Boat Show yesterday and then on to Harrods with my wife (to look at light fittings of all things) and one thing that was very apparent to me, is that there continues to be an awful lot of money in this country, both home grown and in particularly, coming in from overseas.

There are still a lot of people out there with an awful lot of money who simply love collecting cars, many of which will think nothing of spending £130k on one of the last Ferrari's with a manual gearbox.

I personally believe that there will always be more collectors wanting to buy the last and most advanced version of a Ferrari with a manual gearbox, than there will be available stock - Who knows, the 430 being the last and most advanced model with a manual box, may even overtake the "pretty factor" of the 355 in years to come.

In summary, I personally don't think that there is a bubble that will burst on either the 355 or 430 markets - I don't think anybody will ever wake up and find either model is now selling for around the £70k mark - And as long as the current owners continue to hang on to them and availability remains scarce, they will continue to be assets which either grow in, or retain their value.

well .... about 5-6 years ago or so people did wake up and bottom F430s were selling for 70k (or less in some cases) if I remember correctly and 355s were selling for 30-50k. And about 10 years ago F40s were selling for around 200k from memory.

This is my point exactly..... These were all in times before we knew manual gearboxes were know more!

I am a big fan of manual boxes and would definitely be willing to pay a premium for one / would love to have a manual in my FF. just pointing out that things - and esp. consumer goods that are not a necessity - most certainly do not only go up all the time.

Those pix - underwear or swimwear?

I'd say you were safer invested in a manual 355 than an F1. I'd buy neither at the current inflated prices though...

It was definately the new Swimwear collection.
Me and the G/F were pleased to attend this private viewing as she took some pics from our strategic position.
She got some decent angles smile one handed !
