Ridiculous quote for two shop signs.... £3k+

How hard can it be ? Im a spark to trade and pretty handy with other things... create box, put in lights, get vinyl print or some form of print that will allow light through ?

Depending on size, shouldn't cost more than a few hundred if you do it yourself.

Be careful if it's illuminated, you MAY need planning permission.

Hi,
I recently made a shop sign for one of our shops, I am a building contractor so pretty handy with tools and stuff
Anyway I purchased several lengths of the the aluminium side track the backing board slides into.
I used a black aluminium board, I then purchased some water cut stainless steel letters ( came with template also ).
Total cost in materials about £350, looks good too.

I wrote a long post suggesting why you should spend the money, but frankly.

Either do it right or don't bother.

I've always advocated that if a job's worth doing do it right.

What turnover per week will each shop bring in and what's the margin?

I spent £7k on signs for my last store. The cost for manufacturing custom signs is horrendous, I just couldn't get my head around it.

I laughed more than I should.

Sounds like you're after a custom made, designed and fitted aluminium illuminated box fitted at height. Without knowing the specs or what the quotes entail I couldn't tell you whether they're over the top or not.

Was it flat, 3D, illuminated, made from granite etc?

What is your budget?

It is possible to make shop sign from £500 to £5000 and everything in-between.

Are you 50p-land or Bentley, what image do you want to portray to your clients?
