Ironic thread given your username. biggrin

The humble K-series in my Elise always feels a bit grumpy below about 4500rpm and has an annoying tendency to hit the limiter at 7200 when it feels like it wants to go further. The 2ZZ powered cars are even more rev-hungry because of the weird step at the cam-change point.

Haha yes, my diesel is not particulary revvy

The 1.6 and 1.8 in MX5 Mk1/2s loves to rev all the way to the red line.

Clio 182/197/200s also love all the way to the red line.

Not that it revs very high but the 4.4 / 4.5 BMW V8 in 545i /550i and related 6 series loves to rev and spins up surprisingly quickly. The fact its so smooth adds to the sensation that it would happily live on the red line.

Focus ST170. It was just getting going when the rev limiter kicked in. Unfortunately it was so long geared that hitting the red line in any gear other than 1st would have you over the speed limit.

From experience 2 of the best high revving cars are...

Dc2 Integra Type R - It feels like it redlines at 9000pm but it's actually 8200rpm

S1 106 Rallye - Also feels like it will rev to 9000rpm although it's more like 7200rpm.

Both love to be absolutely thrashed to within in an inch of there lives, and couldn't be more happy than at that redline.

Yes not even kidding

Since street porting my RX-7 it was hard to feel where the limiter is, as it doesn't even feel like it's dying off. Same for everyone that drove it on a track day. Takes a few shifts to get your ears tuned in, where as before you could hear it dying off a bit and would know to shift.

The 2 Type-Rs had were clearly the winner for me. They just had such a satisfying surge and the noise was addictive. They weren't actually great road cars in one sense as they are so highly strung, and it's so tempting to flog it all the time just to hear the noise and feel some acceleration!

The current z4 3.0si seems to love being revved too. Unlike most revvy cars it actually has decent low end torque too. It sounds awesome at any revs but it certainly feels alive north of 4k.

Clio 1x2 also much like the Honda didn't really have any real power till you did, but the Clio was nowhere near as fun to rev as the Honda. It just didn't make a nice noise.

I felt the mx5 mk1 to be overrated in this sense, it would rev all day but it didn't feel exactly hugely satisfying or pleasant to do so. Slightly reluctant, coarse, and doesn't really have noticeable kick.

I also don't know whether it was something my car had done but I always felt my 350z was much more satisfying to rev than they were ever given credit for, it had a real kick at 5k and pulled hard to the limiter. I didn't recognise this supposed breathlessness that they are often accused of.

I'll second the vote on the 106 , I had one years ago when they were fairly new and it felt unburstable .

Currently racing a 1964 Lotus Elan with a full race twin cam, safe for 8,750- have seen more.

1978 Fiat Mirafiori with twin cam 1.6 litre - Mum's car when I learned to drive...

1991 Honda Civic VTi - VTEC 1.6 with 150+ bhp at 8200 rpm.

Any 2.0 litre Nissan from 1992-1998 (as used in Almera Gti and Primera GTE).

BMW 325i 1989 vintage - straight six smooth as you like and eager, too.

Swift Sport was really rev-happy. Probably more so than the Mk1 MX5 I had, which was also pretty revvy.
