Hopefully someone on here runs a business and can help me!

I am in a dispute with HMRC about my PAYE income tax and they have asked me for my original P60s, which I don't want to send as I will doubtless never see them again!

I thought the employer sent a copy to HMRC so they have them anyway, they just can't be a*sed finding them?

Any insight would be appreciated - thanks!

Under Real Time Information reporting the employer no longer provided HMRC with a copy of the paper P60. So it is not unreasonable that they ask you for yours if there is a discrepancy between that and their records.

Just keep a photocopy for your records if you are worried about it never being returned to you.
