Well don't forget RoHS 2, lead free solder and all that extra wonderful stuff...
Is this the massive pain in the arse I've read it is? As if there aren't enough things trying to make the smoke escape from electronics we have to go and add another way for it to happen. The shortened lifespan and increased waste must be far worse economically and environmentally than the cost of dealing responsibly with lead and electronic waste generally.
Always interesting when going through RoHS on a missile PCB build. Guess when it hits a building the occupants dont die of lead poisoning

If you do give it to China are you prepared for them to produce a similar product at a lower price to compete with yours? They have little regard for patents etc.

Regarding missile pcb's, I would suggest that someone asks the Government for a national security exemption from CE marking and the problem goes away.

As for RoHS2, this is now required for CE marking so no escape, suggest you work on this by checking that each component is RoHS2 compliant, build up a directory of evidence i.e. datasheets and vendor declarations, etc, this does get easier as you build up the list of known acceptable components. Basically you design compliance into the product as you go. It is a bit of pain when exemptions change and you need to re-evaluate everything.

Alternatively you can pay a lab an extortionate amount of money to chemically analyse the homogeneous masses in your product for nasty chemicals..

As others have mentioned above, feel free to drop me a PM. We run a Contract Electronic manufacturer, based in Cirencester and assemble both Surface mount and Through hole assemblies.
If you download Viewmate you should be able to import the Gerbers and view the board layout. If one of the layers mentions ' paste' then you'll be looking at Surface mount. If you see a few rows of ' holes' they'll probably be connectors or Other ' Through ' hole components!
Good luck!
With a strong arm and a thrown stone you could probably hit me in Phoenix Way during working hours!

Oh, and for the OP's question I've used PCBtrain. Although at substantially lower volumes.
