Hi there, in the past this has knarked me but really done nothing about it.

Someone has lifted word for word and the photo (our own) from our Ecom site and pasted it into their Ebay listing.

Like i said normally i just let it go but it got me thinking that is there an implication to this for a SEO point? what does google do with it.

I found out via a post on Facebook where said company (not even liked by me)showed up in a group i am in saying they now have an ebay shop so clicked through and seen the images were mine and then seen the text.

It should not harm your site directly, however as eBay is seen more authorative it is likely to rank higher for your keywords and I guess it could push you down the SERP a position or two.

eBay would probably take the ad down pretty quickly or you could ask Google to remove it from their SERPs as it is a breach of copyright.

Have they copied your photo or just linked to it?

If they have linked it then can you change the image to something very wrong then report it to ebay?

Hi all and thanks for the replies, they have now removed the text and replaced it with there own but kept the photos.

The photos are not linked just copy pasted etc

I think they just copied our text to start off then changed it.

Still narks me about the photos but it happens quite a lot so have just got used to it.

watermark your images with your website details etc, doubt they'll steal images again and if they do free advertising for you.

Plenty of free batch image watermarking solutions out there....
