Has anyone had a bill from DHL for importation charges? If so do you have to pay before delivery?

The usual thing for couriers is to ask you to pay when they deliver. If it's a lot of money they might get it sorted out beforehand, but since they've already paid the duty and VAT on your behalf it's only fair.

Not until two years after next March, and then only if we come back from the table with nothing. Import duty is not a default setting, it's applied voluntarily by governments either to make money or boost native rivals.

If they have your number you may get a txt message and a link to pay the charges otherwise an invoice after delivery requesting payment.
