Some of your thoughts if possible...

We have a 2016 VW T6 Campervan which we hire as part of the fleet. Obviously during the summer it's out all the time. During the winter, as expected, it's much quieter.

So have been thinking of ways in which to utilise it, and have come around to thinking of it as flexible office space. Here's a pic of the interior:

(although ours has different colour wood).

As you can see - has a table, bench seat, with the roof popped it's easy to stand up in, has a mini fridge, heating (when connected via mains) and radio. So I've been thinking:

Add in wifi
Put milk and water in the fridge etc
Add a coffee machine
Use the 25m mains cable to hook it to the mains (location dependent)
Has sink and water tank which can be used

Now we have a business unit (which holds the supercars we hire) so could set it up outside and hook up to our mains and wifi, or, find a location with a view locally and do the same.

It's a brief outline, and having worked in it myself with my laptop before it does make a cool space to work from - but would it appeal? That's where i'd love some thoughts.....

Thanks, Mark

Use it for events as a temporary booking venue and the like?

If you have it at the warehouse, I guess people would be going there specifically, so maybe makes more sense to have the permanent office set up there instead of using the camper?

Not a bad idea.

We don't have any space inside to offer at the unit, but I see where you're coming from

I bought a boat to use as a mobile office and it was fun for a couple of weeks (it was not a big boat!). Once the fun wore off it was a bit cabin fever.

I can imagine working from it full time for more than a few weeks

We're thinking more like a day here and there just like those you can hire in office blocks if you need somewhere isolated to work or somewhere different from home working, or a meeting etc

I think it's a good idea but it's a bit cramped for space.

Small groups of people wanting to have a meeting will often meet in service stations, pubs, cafes and hotels. Free wifi, no room hire costs and possibly just the price of coffees to fund.

Agreed, meetings of more than 2 wouldn't suit it, we're thinking more of mainly one person needing a small quirky office space with a difference for a few hours or a day etc

Do you have a summer / winter rate for the camper?

If you don't, then it might be more profitable to simply discount the rental rate in your quiet period.

My company car (well, cash allowance) is a caravelle executive. As it has a round table, and four chairs in the back that turn to face each other, I often have Client meetings, or phone conferences if im on the road, in the back. Meet at a coffee shop or McDonalds, and it works well...

Why would one person want to pay for a quirky office space unless it was to be used to impress a client?

Or it could be used as a campervan with the added benefit of being able to work from it whilst touring the UK.

I think it might be better to offer it at a discount in the winter months as you're most likely to get more bookings that way.
