Looking at getting a camera mainly for YouTube vids, pictures for the website etc

Will this be okay 'through the books'? Most likely be used for personal use too being honest or would i need to prove business use only?

Strickly speaking probably not but who is ever going to check?

As long as you aren't buying multiple items or one every year it'll be fine.

Of course you can claim for a camera through the books.

I can't think of any business where it wouldn't be a legitimate expense.

If it is bought for business use - it is a business asset.

No grey area.

No dispute.

Aye, I'll bet Gordon Brown has nightmares about failing to find an argument against...hehe

Many assets that businesses buy can potentially be used for non business purposes (cars, computers, phones, etc etc).

That doesn't make them inelligible for Capital Allowance claims.

If that was directed at me, Eric, yes I know, thanks. Was just having a little dig at Winky.

Why?

He was just another Chancellor (not a terribly good one, admittedly - but then neither was George Osborne).

Why?

Because probably the worst socialist class warrior in the job, ever.

One example...

Stopped private pension schemes reclaiming tax credits on investment income, doing huge damage to private pensions.

Nasty little man.

Not disputing that but what as it got to do with the use of a camera as a business asset?

It was a joke, Eric. Makes me feel warm all over, imagining Winky having nightmares.

Couldn't care less about him these days. I'm more concerned with what the current Chancellor is up to. And there is nothing about Brown that even raises a faint smile.

Not even his fall from grace?

I don't think he really fell from grace - he just stumbled out of office, muttering as he went.

Well as you've declared its business use as 'YouTube and website' you only need 1Mp resolution, so a second-hand Vivitar from 2004 for £10 on eBay is all you can have smile

<puts D500 back on shelf>

Looks like it will be a Go Pro 5 on a gimbal mount for walk around / demo vids of machines & welding kit.
